Para sorpresa de muchos, <strong>el nombre est\u00e1 registrado<\/strong> por una empresa neozelandesa desde 1980, Prinut Inc., antes era conocido como \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">pepino africano<\/span>\u201d, \u201cmel\u00f3n de cuernos\u201d, \u201cmel\u00f3n africano\u201d y otros tantos nombres asociado a su aspecto exterior naranja-amarillento con espinas largas y afiladas parecidas a cuernos.<\/p>\n<p>La <strong>pulpa es de color verde lima<\/strong> y de textura gelatinosa-l\u00edquida. Por la abundante cantidad de semillas que tiene son dif\u00edciles de comer, por eso se filtra la pulpa del fruto para hacer<strong> zumo de kiwano o en ensaladas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>El <strong>cultivo<\/strong> se realiza de forma similar a pepinos, es sensible al fr\u00edo. En estado silvestre tiene componentes t\u00f3xicos.
